A little bit about me
If you had followed the contest “Chante Nwel 1998” of Telemax, the voice of Yolette Lagrandeur should not escape to you. Indeed, she is a singer and become very popular in Port-au-Prince, Haiti in 1998 after having obtained the first price of this contest for its masterly interpretation of the song “Nwel La Pe” translate “Christmas Peace” composed by Pierre Rigaud Chery.Raise in Christian church, Yolette Lagrandeur was a simple young woman who did not want to add any make-up even for the turning of the video of Nwel La Pe. One remembers this face which translated all the innocence of the young artist. A few months later, she astonished her Protestant brothers and sisters by integrating the "Tokay" group, a band that play Haitian music roots and then she decided to make a solo career.
During her adventure she apparently met the notorious father Edner Devalcin, a priest of the Catholic Church whose committed suicide recently. This meeting was transformed into an intimate business at a point where they divided almost all.
At the beginning of August, 2006 at the microphone of Sony Bastien, anchor of Radio Quisqueya, the singer took the stand to announce the news which will plunge her fanatics in an immense sadness. Yolette Lagrandeur publicly confirms that she has infected by HIV positive and that the famous late priest Edner Devalcin would have transmitted to her voluntarily.
Yolette declared that father Devalcin knew exactly that he had had the virus for more than 20 years, and he hide it deliberately in order to spread it around. The singer added, during this interview, which she failed in several attempts to come out under the threats of the priest.
Yolette Lagrandeur as revealed she was not the only victim, because of many young girls had sexual relationship with father Devalcin could have the AIDS as well. She qualified the late priest as criminal and believes that the Haitian Congress should pass and enforce a law to protect people from undeclared HIV positive person. Also Catholic Church must stop this nonsense activity and compensate Yolette Lagrandeur for pains & sufferings for the rest of her life...

Yolette Lagrandeur Aids video - (Sida) I am an AIDS activist and I use my voice to change the situation in Haiti.
After she’s been infected by an Haitian Catholic Priest who had died recently by Aids disease. Despite her life is in danger by the Priest’s family and supporters. Yolette Lagrandeur never stumbled, never afraid of. She wants the story out & protects others against those who voluntarily spread the virus out in Haiti. She asks the Haitian government to enforce the laws, to educate people about HIV and to have access to medication in order to decrease the HIV rate in Haiti.
Her message is everywhere. She uses her angel voice to reach out those sufferers with no voice in one of the hit found of her album Sida (Aids). At the public request she posted here and plans to sing it in English on the coming album very soon.
Enjoy.

SIDA
Sida, sida se yon maladi tout moun ka pran
Nan yon fason pèson’n moun pata janm panse
Sida, sida son flero kanvayi lemond antye
Timoun, granmoun, jenmoun pèson’n pa epanye
Sa fè mwen mal anpil, lè map tande kantité-k kenfekté
Sa pi tèrib pou mwen, lè map gadé lòt kap fè mechansté
Men yo pa konnen konbyen la vi kouté
Protejé la vi moun, protejé la vi moun
Fò’n protejé la vi moun.
2
Santé, santé yo pa van’n santé nan maché
Nou konnen gen kèk fwa lajan paka achté-l
Vi moun, vi moun se yon bagay ki trè presye
Pa gen moun kap janm kab eksplike-l
Sispan’n maltrete-l krazé brizé, touye pitit Bondye
Tanpri zanmi mwen yo, an’n fè yon chen-n solidarité
Poun we si to Sida nan peyi nou kapab besé
Pa pran plezi nou nan fè frè-n ak sè-n kriyé
Protejé la vi moun, protejé la vi moun
3
M’ pa wè rezon pou yap detwi
An nou youn’n protejé lòt
Protejé, protejé, protejé
4
Lonje la men ba li, protejé rès vi li
(An’n met men)
5
Timoun yo pap fini, timoun yo pap mouri
Ann souri gen avni
Viv lavi protejé la vi moun
Protejé la vi moun
Protejé, fòn protejé

I
AIDS, AIDS
A disease anyone can get
One way that nobody would ever have thought
AIDS, AIDS
A curse that spread out all over the world
Child, adult, young people
Nobody is saved from it
This makes me mad so much
When I hear how many have been infected
It’s terrible for me to see others who cause wickedness
But they seem to ignore that life is priceless
Protect people’s lives, protect people’s lives
We must protect people’s lives
2
Health, Health
They don’t sell it in market
We know, sometimes money couldn’t buy it
People’s lives, people’s lives
Is something very precious
Nobody has an explanation
Stop destroying it, breaking it; take away life of human being
I urge you my dear friends, make a chain of solidarity
To see if the AIDS rate in our country could be lower
Do not take pleasure on brothers and sisters cry
Protect people’s lives, protect people’s lives
Let’s protect people’s lives
3
I don’t see the reason why we want destroy it.
Let’s protect one another.
Protect, protect, protect.
4
It is a crime and useless when you infect someone
Haiti will have a chance once we become aware
Here we all have to die, in a way one cannot guess
Don’t humiliate your brother, don’t humiliate your sister
If already infected, doesn’t mean life is done
Give her your full support; protect the rest of her life
Let’s unite
5
Thus children have to live; therefore, they won’t die
Let’s smile a brighter day
Enjoy life, protect people’s lives
Protect people’s lives
Protect, we must protect
Protect people’s lives
We must protect
Protect.
